About Evelyn Brooks

Welcome to Evelyn Brooks Bags — where craftsmanship meets meaning, and every design carries a piece of my journey.

For over 40 years, I’ve poured my heart into creating handmade leather bags that do more than carry your essentials. They carry your story — your travels, your milestones, your everyday moments.

What began as a small dream in a cozy Asheville workshop grew into a lifelong legacy built on artistry, intention, and a deep love for the women who wear my creations.

This isn’t just about bags.
It’s about the women who cherish them.
It’s about you.

Thank you for letting my work be part of your life — I’m honored to be part of your story.

The Journey

I was born in 1960 in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina — a place where artistry runs deep and handmade goods are woven into the culture. My mother was a talented seamstress, and my father worked with leather. I grew up surrounded by the hum of sewing machines, the earthy scent of tanned hides, and the quiet pride that comes from making something with your own hands.

In my early twenties, I crafted my very first leather tote from a scrap of chestnut hide. The moment it sold, I knew I’d found my life’s work.

Over the years, I built a small studio, refined my craft, and created pieces that blended timeless elegance with everyday functionality. Every cut, every stitch, every polished edge was done with care — not just for beauty, but for durability and comfort.

Why I Loved Every Moment

I never chased fast fashion.
Instead, I followed timeless design.

For me, creating bags has always been about slowing down and doing it right — choosing premium materials, perfecting the details, and ensuring each piece could bring confidence, joy, and ease to the women who carried it.

My hope has always been that my bags would do more than hold your belongings — that they’d be trusted companions, ready for every chapter of your life.

A Heartfelt Farewell

After more than four decades at the workbench, I’m stepping into a new chapter: retirement.

This decision comes with deep gratitude — to every customer who believed in my work, supported my small studio, and made my bags part of their everyday lives.

While my hands will rest, the pieces you carry and the memories they hold will keep telling our story — wherever life takes you.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Thank you for being part of this extraordinary journey.

With love and lasting gratitude,
Evelyn Brooks & Family
